Should I start my own Bank Account?

 

Yes! Troop funds must be deposited in a bank account entitled “Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore Troop # ___”  A registered adult should be a signer on the account. At least one other adult must verify the account balance and detailed cash report regularly.  A member of the service unit team must be a signer at the bank.  This is done for access in the case when one person is not available for withdrawals.  For information on starting a bank account, contact the  Service Unit Treasurer.

Rules for Troop Funds

Only registered members may handle troop/council funds.

Meet with parents to establish a strategy to get funds needed for activities.

Consider the financial situation of all girls in your troop.

All troop/council funds must be banked promptly.

A troop Detailed Cash Record and Financial Report must be submitted annually.

Troop funds must be deposited in a bank account entitled “Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore. Troop # ___”

•Undesignated funds by disbanding troops cannot be disbursed to its members.  Funds may follow girls who join other troops
