Daisy Leaders need to :

 

•Build on the strengths of each girl

 

•Develop a friendly relationship with each girl

 

•Only offer a choice when there really is one

 

•Allow a girl to sit out of an activity if she wants to

 

•Encourage girls to solve problems and work

 together

 

•Praise desirable behavior

 

•Think like a Daisy Girl Scout

 

•Learn the names of your Daisy Girl Scouts

 

•Stress fun and downplay competition

 

•Help girls set challenging, realistic goals

 

•Spend time with them during their meetings

 

•Explain WHY behaviors are wrong, and discipline  

  by removing privileges, not giving assignments

 

•Be warm, and praise improvement

 

•Set and enforce rules and limits

 

•Be at their eye level

 

•Use terms they  

 understand

 

•Use a pleasant tone, in

 a low volume

 

•Move quickly to keep

 their attention

 

•Plan time to listen to

 them

 

•Be flexible
