Congratulations on becoming an integral part of the largest voluntary organization for girls in the world! The purpose and mission of the Girl Scouts is to serve the unique interests and needs of the girls. This training is designed to help you to serve those interests and needs by providing basic information and tools to guide you through this new and rewarding experience. In taking this course, you will learn about the Girl Scout Program, founding principals, membership registration, participation options, Girl Scout history, finding your ideal volunteer placement, council publication, the organizational overview, and how to make the most of your volunteer experience with the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore. This training has been created to give you necessary information that will introduce you to Girl Scouting and our girl Scout Council. You will need to have your Volunteer Orientation booklet and Basic Information Guide (BIG) while following this training. It will bring you through several areas of concentration and is meant to be a resource for you. You can re-visit this online training as well as consult your service unit, council office, various books and online sites for additional ideas or questions. |
